Abdominal Womb Therapy for Women
Abdominal therapy for reproductive and digestive health is done in many cultures throughout the world, including the Mayans, in the Philipines, and in Thailand. The approach we use comes from Thailand, where it is called "Womb Lifting." It is done at different stages in a woman's life: as menses is beginning, to help with fertility, to help relieve symptoms of period pain, post-partum healing, and balancing during menopause. It is a deep and thorough technique that involves holding pressure points along the legs, buttocks, back, and abdomen. It ends with a uterine massage and "lift," which is all done externally. It is indicated for:
>> Fertility
>> Dysmenorrhea (painful periods)
>> Irregular periods
>> Fibroids, cysts, endometriosis
>> Post-partum recovery
>> Lower back pain
>> Digestive issues
>> Scars and scar tissue in the abdomen
Sound Therapy
In this 45 minute inner journey, you will be lead to a deep state of relaxation through the sounding of traditional Tibetan singing bowls. This method has become popular in recent years but actually dates back to 2000 BC if not earlier. As the bowls are sounded, the powerful vibrations spread quickly through the body which is 80% water, and this results in a very delicate internal massage of the cells. Physiotherapists also make use of this massage with ultra-sonic sound waves. The human body is a living entity of vibrations and wavelengths. Singing bowls (as well as gongs and tingshaws) recreate the original harmonic frequency, and stimulate the body to rediscover it's own harmonic frequency, by making it vibrate to the frequency of the bowl so that when it is synchronized, it can vibrate independently. This is the phenomenon called, entrainment. The sound of the singing bowls have a measurable wave pattern which is equivalent to the alpha waves produced by the brain. Alpha waves are present in the brain during states of meditation and calm consciousness.
Yoga
Yoga means union, and is ultimately about connection with oneself and the fabric of the universe through the practices. My background as a teacher and practitioner is Ashtanga Yoga, or 8 limbed yoga. I have studied with many teachers over the years, but my main teacher was Baba Hari Das, who was one of the great yogi's of our time. He is the founder of Mount Madonna Center located in the Santa Cruz mountains. He was the yoga teacher to Ram Das, a well-known American teacher of spirituality. As a child, I was raised with the teachings of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the teacher of Transcendental meditation. My most recent yoga certification was a 200 hour yoga teacher training in Singapore with Tirisula Yoga.
